Hand Trencher | Edger
If you need to trench in underground small irrigation lines, a phone line, low voltage landscape lighting, other low voltage direct burial lines such as coax TV cable, or an underground electric dog fence wire and you don’t want to tear up the yard, or rent a trencher this is the tool you will need.
After a good soaking rain this 12” wide pointed tip tool easily slices into the sod to push and pull back a slot just wide enough to place the wire or tubing in, then push the sod back down. Within a few days you will not even be able to see where the trench was made. A generous 1-1/2” step makes it easy to step on and push down in the soil, rock it back to lift the sod and move over to the next lap until you reach the end of the needed trench.
Just a hint: Cut a ½” wide piece of wood about 4’ long, then notch the end to keep the wire or tube in place, as you unroll the material run the stick over it and push down into the bottom of the trench. This will save your back from kneeling over to push the material down into the trench, plus if you live in fire ant territory like we do, it will save you from finding those little stinging buggers on your hands and fingers before you know it.
The Trencher | Edger also makes an excellent landscape edger along walkways and to form landscape bounders around trees and shrubs.
Strong fine grained 43” wood handle is angled away from the body for easier use. Riveted head- to- handle connection assures long service life.
Note: high voltage lines, such as 110/220 volt direct burial cable should be buried and protected deep in a trench to a depth as dictated by local codes. Shallow buried cables could pose electrocution when digging.
