Description / Country Freezer 20qt Ice Cream Freezer

Country Freezers are made of rustproof parts and built for years of service. White Oak wood tub complete with stainless adjustable bands. The unit includes an extra-heavy-duty stainless steel seamless can and a commercial-duty gear assembly with a grease fitting. NSF Certification on the freezer can and dasher. The new Poly Tub option will be available in dark brown and will be made just like the Lifetime poly tubs.

As with all wooden tub ice cream freezers, the wooden tub must be maintained to prevent wood shrinkage in dry environments, and it must not be stored in hot, dry garages or attics, as this can cause shrinkage that leads to leakage. If the container is used only periodically, establish a routine to fill it with water to maintain the staves. The manufacturer does not warrant that the ice cream freezer tubs are free from leakage. Usually, filling with hot water will restore the staves to a tight fit and stop leakage.

As with all wooden tub ice cream freezers, the wooden tub must be maintained to prevent wood shrinkage in dry atmospheres. It should also be stored in a dry, well-ventilated location, such as a garage or attic, to prevent shrinkage that can cause leakage. If the container is used only periodically, establish a routine to fill it with water to keep the staves moist. The manufacturer does not warrant that the ice cream freezer tubs are free from leakage. Typically, filling with hot water causes the staves to fit tightly, preventing leakage.

The 20-qt freezer with the large gear frame will be too top-heavy to try to dump. The ice and water mixture will need to be scooped out between batches for the can to sit in the tub. A long-handled saucepan works well, followed by a smaller pan to reach the remainder. An AC saltwater marine bilge pump could be used if time allows the ice to melt before a new batch is made. If the freezer is on a wagon-mounted unit, the tub can be mounted on a hinged platform and dumped.

Comes equipped with a 14" V-belt pulley. The 14" pulley does not provide a hand crank option. Select the 19" pulley with hand crank upgrade using the drop-down box at the top of the page. A typical belt would be a 5/8" V Belt.

The 20-qt model is the same as the one used at church festivals and county fairs. The 20qt includes a pulley that can be connected to an electric, gas, or steam engine, or to a hand crank. Replacement parts and extra cans are available.

The unit will come with grease in the gearbox. Use the drop-down box at the top of the page to add a 14-oz tube of food-grade grease for the gearbox for ongoing lubrication. The tube fits a standard grease gun.
